Vice President of Product, Publishing Technologies - Responsible for coordinating product vision and roadmaps for the AOL Content Management System and the photo asset management system. Also responsible for working with the B2B group to help create, define and explore potential new business opportunities involving AOL's wide range of publishing technologies.

General Manager, Shopping - Responsible for day to day operations, partner negotiations and overall business strategy. Managed Revenue and Distribution, Editorial, Product and Technology teams. Surpassed revenue projection of $2m, finishing 2010 with $6m in revenue driven from 53 million unique visitors.

Principal Engineer, Blogsmith - Developer for AOL's Content Management System. System was used by 200+ individual websites within AOL Media and served out over 100 million page views per day. Built with Linux, Apache, MySQL, Memcache and PHP and deployed globally in four different data centers.

Lead Engineer, Netscape.com - Led development for the Netscape.com social community (later renamed Propeller.com). Manage team, created roadmap and set milestones in addition to creating the site's software architecture. The site was developed using Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP and played host to a social community consisting of over 500,000 active members.

Created online job hunting website with the goal of drastically improving the job seeking experience. Site allowed users to effortlessly create and distribute resumes, keeping detailed analytics on who viewed their resume and when. Site was developed using Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP and had approximately 250,000 active job seekers. Sold to AOL in 2008 and merged with AOL Careers.

  • Gained certification in Java 1.4 (SCJP) and IBM Rational Unified Process (RUP)
  • EDS (Electronic Data Systems): Member of the GUI development team for the redesign of the Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS). RAPIDS is a global PKI system under The Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) used to create the military's Common Access Card, a smart chip identification card. Assisted with the architecture, design and implementation of the overall user interface. Project construction was carried out with Java 1.4 and associated Swing libraries using Oracle JDeveloper. Increased working knowledge of design patterns, UML and user-centric design practices. Gained experience with issues related to global development and subsequent deployment. Also gained experience working with peripheral devices such as: Fingerprint Readers, Video Cameras, Smart Card Readers, Smart Card Printers and Bar Code Scanners.
  • Serena: Assigned to rewrite the TeamTrack C API in Java. Prior Java exposure was limited. Skills were increased by using previous experience in similar languages as well as outside study. Concepts centered on JNI, Sockets, Exception Handling and building projects using Ant. Standard OO practices were applied.

  • Atqui.com Spam Filter: Primary tasks included project management responsibilities and browser based product development. Highlights include developing the website back-end for the anti-spam solution and developing corresponding e-commerce sales module to handle service subscriptions. Development followed a waterfall methodology with requirements focusing on privacy and security. The system was implemented using a mixture of C, PHP, mySQL and Apache on the Red Hat Linux platform.
  • Internal Messaging Services: Developed web service for internal use with instant messaging clients. The product allowed team members to change their "away messages" remotely via web form, e-mail or cell phone. The web service was implemented using PHP and SOAP technologies. The client side integration was achieved using C#, a language that was learned quickly through previous experience with C and Visual Basic.NET.
  • Streaming Media: Developed an online music prototype for a record label. The prototype demonstrated online music streaming while collecting user submitted feedback. System "learned" user preferences over time, altering streamed content to better match user preferences. The application was built using Linux, Apache, mySQL, PHP and the RealPlayer API.

Responsibilities included maintaining Linux and NT servers as well as Internet connectivity and overall system security. Established web development team in 1995 catering to local small businesses. Gained sound knowledge of computer hardware, networking and web design principles.

  • Charlotte.com: Assisted with the RealCities.com network launch and the overall operations of Charlotte.com. Responsibilities included web development, perl scripting, coverage of the locally held 1997 NBA Draft and the development of an online news feature detailing the incomes of Carolina executives.
