  • Consulting: One of two PHP developers contracted to redesign the Blogsmith CMS to take advantage of Linux, Apache, mySQL and PHP. System powers 20 of the top 100 technorati blogs. Gained experience with Memcache integration into high volume, high performance web sites.

  • Blogsmith: Developer for Blogsmith, the worlds most advanced blogging platform. Powers sites such as Engadget.com, TMZ.com, AOL sports blogs, and the Weblogs, Inc. network of sites.
  • Netscape.com: Led development efforts for the Netscape.com re-launch (now renamed propeller.com). Managed team, developed code, set project path and goals. Site was developed using LAMP in approximately 3 months.

  • EDS (Electronic Data Systems): Member of the GUI development team for the redesign of the Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS). RAPIDS is a global PKI system under The Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) used to create the military's Common Access Card, a smart chip identification card. Assisted with the architecture, design and implementation of the overall user interface. Project construction was carried out with Java 1.4 and associated Swing libraries using Oracle JDeveloper. Increased working knowledge of design patterns, UML and user-centric design practices. Gained experience with issues related to global development and subsequent deployment. Also gained experience working with peripheral devices such as: Fingerprint Readers, Video Cameras, Smart Card Readers, Smart Card Printers and Bar Code Scanners.
  • Serena: Assigned to rewrite the TeamTrack C API in Java. Prior Java exposure was limited. Skills were increased by using previous experience in similar languages as well as outside study. Concepts centered on JNI, Sockets, Exception Handling and building projects using Ant. Standard OO practices were applied.

  • Atqui.com Spam Filter: Primary tasks included project management responsibilities and browser based product development. Highlights include developing the website back-end for the anti-spam solution and developing corresponding e-commerce sales module to handle service subscriptions. Development followed a waterfall methodology with requirements focusing on privacy and security. The system was implemented using a mixture of C, PHP, mySQL and Apache on the Red Hat Linux platform.
  • Internal Messaging Services: Developed web service for internal use with instant messaging clients. The product allowed team members to change their "away messages" remotely via web form, e-mail or cell phone. The web service was implemented using PHP and SOAP technologies. The client side integration was achieved using C#, a language that was learned quickly through previous experience with C and Visual Basic.NET.
  • Streaming Media: Developed an online music prototype for a record label. The prototype demonstrated online music streaming while collecting user submitted feedback. System "learned" user preferences over time, altering streamed content to better match user preferences. The application was built using Linux, Apache, mySQL, PHP and the RealPlayer API.
